How to Install GSE Smart IPTV
On iOS and Apple TV
Open the Apple App Store, search for GSE Smart IPTV, and install the app. The free version contains ads, but you can upgrade to a PRO version via in-app purchase to remove them.
On Android
Search for GSE Smart IPTV in the Google Play Store and install it.
Setup Method 1: Xtream Codes (Recommended)
Xtream Codes is the best way to load your playlist as it automatically categorizes Live TV, VOD, and Series, and fetches the EPG automatically.
- Open GSE Smart IPTV.
- Open the left-side menu (tap the three horizontal lines icon).
- Select Xtream-Codes API.
- Tap the + button in the top right corner.
- Enter the details:
- Name: Flick IPTV
- Server URL: The URL provided in your email (e.g.,
http://server.com:8080) - Username: Your username
- Password: Your password
- Tap Add or Login.
- Tap the profile you just created to access your channels.
Setup Method 2: Remote M3U Playlist
If you only have an M3U URL, you can use the Remote Playlists option.
- Open the left-side menu.
- Select Remote Playlists.
- Tap the + button.
- Select Add M3U URL.
- Enter the details:
- Playlist Name: Flick IPTV
- Playlist Link: Paste your full M3U URL here.
- Tap Add.
- Tap the playlist name to load the channels.
Note: M3U playlists in GSE do not automatically load EPG data. You must add the EPG URL separately in the EPG Program Guide section of the menu.
GSE Free vs. GSE Pro: What Actually Changes
GSE Smart IPTV works fully in its free form — you are never blocked from adding playlists or watching channels. The PRO upgrade (a one-time in-app purchase) removes banner ads and unlocks a handful of extras like additional external player options and multi-screen (picture-in-picture) support on iPad. For most users on a Flick IPTV subscription, the free version is enough since your channels, EPG, and VOD content all work identically either way.
Setting Up Catch-Up TV and VOD in GSE
If your playlist includes catch-up TV (the ability to rewind and watch a show that already aired) or VOD (movies and series), GSE surfaces these automatically when you log in via Xtream Codes API — look for separate Live, Movies, and Series tabs after loading your profile. Catch-up appears as a small clock icon next to a channel when you press select on it; not every channel or provider supports catch-up, so its absence on a specific channel is normal rather than a bug.
Multi-Screen and External Player Options
On iPad, GSE PRO supports a split-screen mode so you can watch one channel while browsing the guide. On all platforms, GSE lets you switch the internal video engine in Settings > Player Settings — if a specific channel won't play with the default player, switching to the alternate decoder (usually labeled VLC-based or Software Decoder) resolves format issues the default player can't handle.
Troubleshooting
App Freezes on Loading
If you are loading a very large M3U playlist, GSE might struggle on older devices, especially older Apple TV models (Apple TV HD and earlier) with less RAM. Switching to the Xtream Codes API method usually resolves this, as it handles large channel lists much more efficiently than parsing a raw M3U file line by line.
EPG Not Showing
If using Xtream Codes, tap the refresh icon inside the EPG Program Guide section. If using M3U, ensure you have correctly added your XMLTV EPG URL in the EPG section — GSE does not guess this from the M3U file. Allow 5–10 minutes after adding the EPG URL for the guide to fully populate on a large channel list.
"Unable to Connect" or Blank Channel List
This almost always means one of three things: the server URL is missing http:// or the port number, the username/password has a typo (check for extra spaces, which are easy to introduce when copying from an email), or your subscription has expired. Re-copy your credentials directly from your activation email rather than retyping them.
App Crashes When Switching Channels Quickly
Rapidly flipping through channels can overload GSE's buffer on older hardware. Wait a second or two between channel changes, and if it persists, lower the player buffer size in Settings > Player Settings > Buffering.

Is GSE Smart IPTV free? Yes. The core app is free with all playlist, EPG, and playback features included. A one-time PRO purchase removes ads and adds extras like split-screen on iPad, but it isn't required to use the app.
Does GSE Smart IPTV work without Wi-Fi, using only cellular data? Yes, GSE streams over any active internet connection, including cellular data on iPhone or iPad. Data usage is high for live TV, so a strong connection or unlimited data plan is recommended for extended viewing.
Why does my GSE playlist show channels but no EPG? This is almost always because the EPG (XMLTV) URL was not added separately, or the Xtream Codes refresh hasn't run yet. M3U playlists do not carry EPG data automatically — you must add the EPG source URL yourself in the EPG Program Guide menu.
