Install TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro
Open the Google Play Store on your Android TV or Google TV device. Search for 'TiviMate' or 'IPTV Smarters Pro' and install your preferred app.
Open the App and Add a Playlist
Open TiviMate and tap 'Add Playlist'. Select 'Xtream Codes API' and enter your server URL, username, and password from your activation email. Alternatively, select 'M3U URL' and paste your playlist link.
Enable Hardware Decoding
For smooth 4K playback, go to TiviMate Settings > Player > Decoder and set it to 'Hardware'. This uses your device's built-in video decoder for efficient playback.
Configure EPG
EPG loads automatically when using Xtream Codes. If EPG is missing, go to Settings > Playlists > your playlist > Refresh. Allow 5-10 minutes for the guide to fully populate.

Generic Android TV Box Doesn't Have the Play Store
Some budget or unbranded Android TV boxes ship without Google Play certification, which means the standard install method won't work.
- If the Play Store is missing, sideload the APK using a file manager or the Downloader app instead.
- Uncertified boxes can also have compatibility issues with hardware decoding — if playback is unstable after install, this may be a hardware limitation rather than an app or network problem.
Remote Navigation Feels Unresponsive or Laggy
Unlike Firestick or Chromecast remotes, many generic Android TV boxes use Bluetooth remotes with weaker range and processors with less RAM, which affects app responsiveness independent of your internet connection.
- Close other background apps running on the box — Android TV devices with limited RAM slow down noticeably with multiple apps open.
- If the box has an Ethernet port, use it — Wi-Fi chip quality varies a lot between generic Android TV boxes.
