LG TV IPTV Buffering: Causes and Fixes

LG Smart TVs run webOS. Like Samsung, LG allocates limited RAM to third-party streaming apps, which makes them sensitive to network quality and app configuration.

Common Causes of LG IPTV Buffering

  • Limited app memory on webOS
  • Wi-Fi signal quality
  • 4K streams requiring sustained high bandwidth
  • Stale playlist or expired credentials

Step-by-Step Fixes

1. Use Wired Ethernet

LG Smart TVs have a built-in Ethernet port. Connect a cable from your router to the TV.

Go to Settings > All Settings > Network > Wired Connection (Ethernet) to confirm the connection.

A wired connection eliminates the most common source of IPTV buffering.

2. Reduce Channel Quality

Switch from 4K to 1080p versions of channels if available in your channel list. This reduces bandwidth demand from 25+ Mbps to around 15 Mbps.

3. Refresh Your Playlist

In Smart IPTV: Re-upload via siptv.app/mylist and trigger a refresh on the TV. In GSE Smart IPTV: Go to playlist settings and tap Refresh.

4. Run a Network Test on LG TV

Settings > All Settings > General > Network > Check the Internet Connection.

This confirms whether the TV itself has a good connection. If the test fails or shows low speeds, Wi-Fi is the issue.

5. Restart TV and Router

Turn off the LG TV at the power button (not remote standby). Restart your router. Wait 60 seconds and power everything back on.

6. Check for Interference on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

If your LG TV is connecting via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, there may be interference from neighbours or other devices. Switch to 5 GHz in your router settings if possible. LG TVs support 5 GHz Wi-Fi on most models from 2018 onwards.

When It's a Specific Channel Issue

If buffering only occurs on certain channels while others work fine, contact support with the channel names. This is typically a server-side issue.
