IPTV EPG Not Working? How to Fix a Missing TV Guide

EPG stands for Electronic Programme Guide — the on-screen TV schedule that shows what is currently airing and what comes next. When EPG stops working, you lose the ability to browse upcoming content or use catch-up features. Here is how to diagnose and fix it.

Why EPG Might Not Work

CauseDescription
EPG URL not configuredThe app does not know where to fetch guide data
EPG data not refreshedThe local cache is stale or empty
M3U URL does not include EPGSeparate EPG URL needed
Server-side EPG issueThe EPG source is temporarily unavailable
App settings disabledEPG feature is turned off in app settings

Fix EPG in TiviMate

TiviMate loads EPG automatically when you add a playlist via Xtream Codes. If EPG is missing:

  1. Open TiviMate and go to Settings > Playlists.
  2. Tap your playlist name.
  3. Tap Refresh and wait 5–10 minutes.
  4. Return to the main screen. The EPG should now populate.

If using M3U, you may need to add the EPG URL separately:

  1. Settings > Playlists > [your playlist] > XMLTV EPG URL.
  2. Enter the EPG URL provided by your service (from your activation email).
  3. Tap Refresh.

Fix EPG in IPTV Smarters Pro

  1. Open IPTV Smarters Pro.
  2. Tap the Settings icon (gear) next to your playlist.
  3. Look for EPG URL or EPG Source.
  4. If empty, enter the EPG URL from your activation email.
  5. Save and trigger an Update EPG / Refresh.

For Xtream Codes playlists, EPG is usually auto-loaded. Tap the refresh button on the main screen if the guide is blank.

Fix EPG in GSE Smart IPTV

  1. Open GSE Smart IPTV.
  2. Go to Settings > EPG Settings.
  3. Enable EPG if it is disabled.
  4. Add your EPG URL if required.
  5. Tap Refresh EPG.

Fix EPG in Smart IPTV (Samsung/LG)

  1. Go to the Smart IPTV settings screen on your TV.
  2. Navigate to EPG options.
  3. Ensure EPG is enabled.
  4. Trigger a manual update.

Common EPG Questions

How long does EPG take to load?

On first setup, EPG can take 5–15 minutes to fully load. Subsequent refreshes are faster.

EPG shows wrong times

This is a timezone mismatch. In your app settings, find the EPG timezone option and set it to your local timezone (Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific time for Canada).

Some channels show EPG, others do not

Not all channels in a playlist may have EPG data assigned. This is a data availability issue at the provider level. Contact support to report specific channels missing EPG.

EPG worked before but stopped

Trigger a manual refresh first. If that does not work, contact support — the EPG source URL may have changed.
